Pamela Burton presents the latest in KBFG news, news that tackles current affairs and efforts to link today’s news with a look back in history.
In 2014 Pam Burton heard that a group of Ballard friends were putting together a low power radio station. Before moving to Seattle in 1997 she worked at KPFK, Pacifica Radio in Los Angeles, serving in virtually every position at the station and director of the Pacifica Radio Archives. She also earned a master’s in public broadcasting from Ohio University. Never having lost the love for community radio, Pam jumped at the opportunity to get involved with KBFG-LP.
Putting together a brand-new station offers so many opportunities. Pam joined the group and accepted the role as a board member which brings with it a huge “to do list”. One of the projects, finding a home for the station’s antennae, led her to discover the Norse Home which would become the new home for her mother-in-law when she lost her husband.
Her program “You Heard It Here” is a show case for new programs coming on the station. She also draws from a large archive of recorded material to discuss current events. She also produces Mixed Media Madness and Black Lives Matter.
