Musicology Show

Before his untimely passing in 2022, Lain Hawkridge hosted a weekly music show on WKHS on Maryland’s eastern shore. Each show would explore the music of a city, a genre, a producer, or a famous studio, and Lain would explain the history and evolution of exemplary music on the topic. Subhost Eric Muhs (and Lain’s childhood friend) reassembled about 130 of Lain’s shows from an enormous pile of fragmented real-time recordings on CDs, and repackaged them with updated station ids to present them here on KBFG.

Lain Hawkridge (Robert Lain Hawkridge) was a beloved community figure in Maryland’s Eastern Shore, known for his passionate involvement in local education, chess, and radio, particularly hosting the “Musicology Show” on WKHS radio, where he shared his deep love for music with students and listeners until his untimely passing in late 2020. He was instrumental in fostering chess programs at Radcliffe Creek School and the Chestertown community, a dedication celebrated with a memorial tournament.
